I saw this on Facebook and I wrote a comment in response to the photo. It is a controversial subject and I don’t have all the answers, but it is clear to me were the problem lies.
I have been thinking about this issue for a time.
Let me first say that I am not a member of the NRA. I don’t own a gun. I have never owned a gun. I’m not a hunter. But I strongly support the rights of Americans to own a gun.
When I think of the history of America, individual ownership of guns has always been a part being an American. For much of our history, murder by gun was not as it is now. The amount of murders have increase and the amount of destroyed lives has increased.
Something must have changed for the worst!
I believe that something was our culture and cultures only change when individuals change. Could it be that more and more people are growing cold in their hearts? Could it be that we have lost our compassion for our fellow-man? Could our stepping away from God and his teachings made us decline as a society? Could murdering the unborn child in their mother’s womb make it easier to murder a family member at home? Could killing vast amounts of people in Call of Duty and other video games, make it easier to kill vast amounts of people at the Murrah building, a movie theater, or the World Trade Centers?
Our hearts have become callous!
We, as a society, have lost our sense of right and wrong! Why? Because we have lost our way. We have wandered away from the Truth. We have turned away from God, our Creator. We said we did not need Him, but it’s painfully obvious that we do!
Our problem is not a gun. The problem is our wicked heart! Our heart must be renewed.
Christian, may I challenge you to show Christ-like love to all. Would you extend grace to the lost? Be the light this dark world desperately needs.
What’s your thoughts? Do you agree or disagree?
